About the Author

Gene Stubbson, designer and screenwriter, has been a creator since early childhood. A native Houstonian, Gene, better known as “Stubb”, has worked on the wardrobe for various artists in the music “rap” genre since 1991. As part of his introduction to the movie business, starting in 1995, Stubb designed the wardrobes of the leading actors in the urban features, Fifth Ward, Thug Life, and Dirty Third; all under the umbrella of Nexus Entertainment. As a part of his ability to initiate, lead and make decisions, Stubb began directing fashion shows – approximately forty (40) – to bring to fruition the entirety of the effect of the presentations as desired by himself and others involved in the production. Though not requesting credit for the work, he did direct a segment of Crossroads (ABC Television) as the subject of that segment about an up-and-coming designer out of Houston.
In 1998, Stubb began the first of his three-part comic book series about his created character named Sam Surfheadã. Shortly thereafter, Stubb was reunited with Toni Netters-Rutherford, whom he had initially met on the Fifth Ward movie set in 1995. After some brainstorming, the writing team of Ruth & Stubb was created. Since that time, they have written and copyrighted thirteen (13) screenplays, wrote/produced and directed a film short (CBD’S House of Beauty), and wrote/co-produced, Single Again?… Damn. They have approximately twenty (20) treatments for future scripts including a series with twelve (12) completed episodes written by Stubb.
As a result of the hard work put in through various writing tasks, including the creation of a compilation of poems and short stories entitled, Pot Luck: Seasons of Life, Stubb, along with Ruth, received “Best Screenplay “ award honors at the Memphis Film Festival, for the works titled, SWOOGIE and The Rage Within. Now after recently co-writing and directing a local play, ”The Trial”, Stubb seeks to step up to a higher level at which his writing, producing and directing abilities may continue to grow and prosper to the benefit of all involved.
Gene Stubbson has now become an author. Though there are different areas of interest, the subject(s) of this literary work, Pants Hanging Down, is one that is frequently being discussed. As a result of the "disappointment" and "disgust" expressed by many, Stubb began to not only think about what was being illustrated by those who wear there pants as they do (hanging down) but the common traits that many in this segment of people possess. Though "generalizing" causes problems as phd discusses, arguments are made so that anyone who chooses to listen, will not be part of the negative generalizations that are frequently on the tongues of many, but which, more often than not, are true. Elevating the thinking and the productive desires of those who will influence individual and collective futures is the purpose of the work. We pray to do this by making a "common sense reconnection" with the biblical reasoning that was designed to be guide us. phd is simply "saying what needs to be said".

Pants Hanging Down goal: To introduce and or reaffirm beliefs through the examples and actual events that help all who read, and tell others about phd, to make a "common sense connection" between you, them and a better way to think and operate.

This hilarious but serious play, written by Cleveland McLeish, co-written by Gene Stubbson, was presented by Ruth&Stubb. The performance, directed by Gene Stubbson, was a "thought-provoking" delight to the audiences. They were touched with the reality of the play as it reached into their lives and pulled them into the life of John Christian, who is on trial for his eternal life. Though laughter was a major ingredient, it succeeded in bringing to light the areas where many may be failing to do what they need to do to be better.
We are excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. "God is good all the time and all the time God is good". Share the excitement!
